Today SoccerGags.com’s eyes are zooming in on South Africa’s 25 year old Percy Tau. Many would agree the man is not getting a deal he deserves from the soccer world. He is blessed with great football acumen, a genius of the game and a true professional. After assisting Mamelodi Sundowns in winning everything that’s to be won in the African soil, ranging from domestic league, cups and continental competitions including CAF Champions League and CAF Super Cup, Percy was bought by Brighton & Hove Albion of England in 2018.
The move to Brighton was believed to be the key to the English Premier League Dream doors for Tau, however work permit complications resulted in the attacking maestro being loaned out to the Belgian second tier club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. Being a professional that he is, this didn’t break his soul but pushed him to win the hearts of the Union’s faithful fans. It is through his talent and the love by his Union club’s staff and fans that Tau’s outstanding performance got appreciated by all in the entire Belgian second division league and was rewarded with the league’s Best Player of the Season prize at the end of the season despite it being his first in Europe.
It is worth mentioning that before being awarded with the Belgium’s Proximus League Player of the Season 2018/19, Percy Tau left South Africa as the Premier League’s Player of the Season for 2017/18 campaign. In addition to this outstanding achievement, Percy Tau goes to AFCON 2019 with 18 caps and 9 goals for South Africa and he scored all 2 goals for his country in a must win AFCON 2019 qualifier against Libya on 24 March 2019 (last game of the group) and for that, he is definitely a player to watch in this tournament.
